This compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. The current compact was jointly revised and finalized by parents and staff in response to the feedback after reviewing the previous year’s compact.

DuPont Elementary will:

• Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
  • Provide students with a high-quality, research-based curriculum, instruction, and homework which will enable students to meet common core standards.
  • Introduce new educational opportunities for all students.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Be a positive role model to students in a safe, loving, orderly, and child-centered environment.
  • Understand diversity and address individual needs of children.
  • Believe each child can learn and encourage each child to strive for his/her personal best.
  • Establish consistent guidelines for appropriate school behavior and support policies and procedures.
  • Show respect for each child and his/her family.
• Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held:
  • As determined by the district.
  • Additional conferences will be scheduled as needed.
  • Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:
  • Standards-based report cards will be sent home every nine weeks. (Dates are determined by the district.)
  • Progress reports will be sent home mid-nine-week periods. (Dates are determined by the district.
• Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation as follows:
  • By phone calls, email, daily agendas, folders, and conferences as requested by parents or teachers.
  • Provide parents opportunities that encourage parents to be involved at school through volunteering, conferences, workshops, information/collaboration meetings, and classroom observations.
  • Provide information about upcoming school events and workshops through monthly newsletters, notes, emails, callouts, school marquee and website.
  • Provide a flexible schedule of parent involvement meetings and workshops in an organized, ongoing, and timely way.

Parents will:

• Share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement.
• Read information sent home: sign and return when requested.
• Share the responsibility for positive student behavior.
• Have high but realistic expectations for my child.
• Provide a loving, safe and orderly environment within the home.
• See that my child comes to school well rested, on time, dressed appropriately and with necessary supplies.
• Attend the annual Parent-Teacher Conferences.
• Support DuPont Elementary by participating in planned activities and meetings.

Students will:

• Have a positive attitude and accept responsibility for my behavior and actions.
• Work cooperatively with my classmates and my teacher.
• Show respect for myself and others.
• Obey school and bus rules.
• Strive to do my personal best.
• Complete all homework and class assignments.

At the annual parent meeting, parents will be informed of the District and School Wide Family Engagement Policies, the Parent School Compact, and the parent/community goals listed in the School Improvement Plan.

Daily folders are used as a communication tool. The folders inform the parents of their student’s homework, behavior, and upcoming events at school. Information packets are sent home schoolwide at the start of the year.

The Parent School Compact, developed jointly with parents, outlines how parents, staff, and students share responsibility for improved student achievement. The compact will help students achieve state standards and ESEA requirements.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held each fall and/or spring. Students’ social and academic progress towards goals will be reviewed, as well as areas of concern. The Parent School Compact and Family Engagement Policy will be available for review.

Parents will have the opportunity to provide suggestions or voice concerns in the Parent Suggestion Box located in the front lobby. Parent surveys will also solicit parent feedback and opinions.

A calendar of events, monthly newsletters, progress reports, and additional information will be sent home in a timely manner. This will provide updated information on curriculum, academic assessments, proficiency levels required to meet state standards and ESEA, parenting tips, and opportunities for adult education and activities.

Family events and parent information/collaboration meetings will be held throughout the year at various times to maximize parent involvement. The Title I parent involvement funds will financially support these activities. A flexible schedule of activities will be provided.

The school will build capacity by coordinating with Title 3 EL Services when needed and by offering transportation in addition to childcare.

Parents, community members, and staff will collaborate throughout the year to update and revise the School Wide Family Engagement Plan. The effectiveness of the SIP and Family Engagement Policies will be evaluated annually at a parent meeting. A signature of agreement will be required.

DuPont Elementary has a preschool program. Parents of preschool students will be encouraged to complete surveys and attend workshops, information meetings, and all school-related activities.
